The NRA claims the City of San Francisco’s “trigger lock” requirement for handguns in homes violates state laws and the Second Amendment.

The NRA claims that requiring handguns to be rendered “inoperable at all times,” makes it impossible for its members to use guns for self-defense, “particularly in urgent, life-threatening situations.”

The ordinance also prohibits the firing of guns within the home in self-defense as well as the sale of ammunition “specifically designed for use in self-defense emergencies,” the complaint states.

Kates cited a recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling, District of Columbia v. Heller, that struck down a similar ordinance. The Supreme Court found that requiring gun owners to use trigger locks “makes it impossible for citizens to use them for the core lawful purpose of self-defense and is hence unconstitutional.”

The woman, who only wants to be identified as Adrianna, pulled out her own gun. ”I just leaned forward and punched him in the forehead with my gun,” she said. The man “screamed like a girl and almost dropped his gun” as he ran away, she added.

Adrianna was pulling into the International Mall when the armed man jumped in her car. She talked about defending herself. ”I didn’t want to have to shoot…anyway over a car. But if it was going to be him or me…”

Tampa Police warn the suspects are becoming more aggressive and may be prone to violence.

The safe – the one that Williams ordered Ferdinando Abbondante to open – contained just one item.

A 9 mm Berretta.

Stephens told me that the dead man’s weapon might have been a toy gun. The police had no comment, but Barnes noted that whether or not a weapon is real is usually immaterial.

Fear for your life is what matters in self-defense.

This is a textbook self defense shooting. The criminal knew the risks before he demanded money, but threatened someone’s life anyways. In the heat of the moment, it is difficult to tell whether a weapon is real or fake, and the threat of death is still there for the victims. The owner tried to let the robber leave with the cash, but he demanded the safe which contained nothing but a handgun, and the owner did the right thing and used it. There is no telling what the robber would have done once he got his hands the loaded weapon.

“I heard a hard knock on the front door,” said Jackson. “So I opened the door with a little crack and when I did these two men just shoved me back with the door and one had the weapon pointed at my head.”

He raised his weapon and at that time I got my weapon and fired before he ever got his weapon back down again. Then I shot the other guy and then I came back and shot the man with the weapon again,”

“I’m sorry that someone got hurt, because I have children, love them very much. And I’m sure the parents of those two loved them very much and I am really grieving for that.”

Billy Jackson was lucky he was armed that day. Most people remove their CCW in their home, or do not keep a loaded handgun in their house. If Billy had not had his weapon with him, the intruders could have easily captured or killed him. It’s an unfortunate situation, but Billy did what he had to do to protect the life of himself and his wife.

John Lovell had just finished dinner at about 11: 15 p.m. Wednesday when, Plantation police say, two men armed with guns rushed inside a Subway shop and demanded cash. After robbing the store, the men turned to Lovell. They wanted his money, police said.

According to a police statement, Arrindell ordered Lovell to hand over his wallet. He intentionally dropped it on the floor and refused to pick it up, saying he was afraid. That’s when Arrindell ordered him into the women’s restroom.

“The victim believed he would be executed and when he noticed [Arrindell] distracted … reached behind his back, removed his loaded .45 caliber handgun from his holster and fired seven rounds,” the statement said.

Another good example of a CCW holder defending his life after giving the robbers everything they wanted. He gave them his wallet, but they ordered him back into a restroom where they were likely to execute him with the weapons they used to rob the store.
