There are some ignorant people out there. Just because you don’t like guns doesn’t mean they aren’t going to help protect you in a real situation. A criminal will do what a criminal is set on doing, and I for one would rather be able to defend myself.

True, he had it all planned out. I can’t believe there are people that still want to keep students helpless while in class. Amazing how the media never acts out scenarios as if students did have guns.

I know. I was just pointing out that once the police made it to Norris hall and confronted Cho, he killed himself without ever firing a shot at them. To me, it seems that is evidence that he was planning to kill himself as soon as he encountered armed resistance.

Of course, thanks to VT’s stupid gun ban, he knew it would be a long time before that happened.

One thing that upset me was the question the guy asked the students end. It was misleading and biased.

The guy asked “would you feel safer or less safe if there were students who had concealed weapons?” That made it seem like any random student would get get a gun if CCW was allowed.

He should have asked “Would you feel safer if students aged 21 or older who have passed background checks, received firearms training, and earned a CCW license from the State had concealed weapons on Campus?”

The Police were at the location of the first 2 that were killed in another part of the campus when the large number was shot away from where the police were. Remember he went to the PO and came back to shoot the rest.

ClassicFIHD: “Most of the Students at Virginia Tech were killed after the police had arrived.”

Not only that, but as soon as Cho was confronted by people who were able to fight back against him (the cops), he killed himself.

Cho wasn’t looking for a shootout, he was trying to kill as many defenseless people as possible before encountering resistance. If a few students had been armed and immediately fought back against Cho, he might have killed himself almost right after his rampage began.

pullnshoot25: “I was just about to make the same comment and I saw yours. What a complete and utter tool that kid is.”

Yeah, it kind of makes you wonder how competent VT is if their students are really that ignorant. Sounds like some of them should be asking for their money back.

Dont worry, let the cops take care of us!

VT student: “We shouldn’t have to worry about our safety in the first place to the extent that we have to carry around guns.”

That is true, but meaningless. I shouldn’t have to worry about auto theft, but that doesn’t stop me from locking my car doors every time I get out of my car. I shouldn’t have to worry about car accidents, but that doesn’t stop me from wearing a seat belt.

Safety precautions are not based on how the world “should be”, but on how the world really is.

This was a story about the SCCC not the counter arguments.

The assertion of personal protection is legitimate but it should not be the main topic. The main point should be deterrence. Gun free zones have proven to be ineffective in stopping gun crimes(Columbine, NIU, VT). What you can do is make it riskier for them to do any harm onto others. That is the point. We want them to think twice about everything. Until the schools are ready to shell out the money for trained guards and metal detectors, there will be a gaping hole in the security on campus.

I disagree. They gave the opposition one minute of counter-argument minute to the SCCC’s seven, and the arguments which they proposed as representing the opposition were fake arguments. The argument no where addressed is 1) The public has the legal, collective right to a gun-free zone in certain areas and circumstances according to the local community 2) The SCCC’s assertion of personal endangerment is a concern for local response systems, not personal armament. Have/can you address these? Nope.

Yeah, the anti-gun crowd is represented well by the mainstream media. Be glad that we’re getting any air time.

I wonder how much these videos are edited by the news. Legal alcoholic intake of a carrying person in MI is .02. That’s less than a beer for some smaller persons. Drink or have the gun. Those are the options. They’re already obeying the laws by not carrying where they’re not supposed to… why should we think any different of when they choose to drink?

UTAH:We can and do carry on campus-thousands of guns are on Utah campus’everyday.(as well as K-12) no problems.
Call police in a situation where a nutjob goes on a shooting spree? Cops at these shootings, never saved any lives. All they can do/did is wait for the shooter to run out of ammo or victims. The shooter ends it(suicide. That is/has been the reality in all exept one time where students(at another Virgina school)were able to go get their weapons from their vehicles and stop the shooter.

Excellent video. Notice the intelligent, realistic, and informed opinion of the students in favor of self-defense and the contrasting fairytail idealism of those in favor of remaining defenseless. “We should be teaching other things like…um…getting along with each other…” Well, what happens when a lunatic starts shooting? Should we all try to teach him to get along? How about something based in reality like defending yourself?

The segment was very good for the most part. My only gripe is, per usual, the anti self defense crowd gets the last say.

Keep up the good work! Knowledge is power!
