A proposal to allow law-abiding citizens of the United States to carry legally permitted concealed firearms on college campuses, in accordance to both the US Constitution as well as the regulations set forth in the text version of the proposal.

This experiment has already taken place (unconstitutionally, I might add) in Washington DC over the course of more than a decade in which all firearms were banned- our nation’s capital quickly became the city with the highest per capita murder rate in the country.

It’s a tough thing to calculate how many instances there are in which a concealed carry has been utilized to prevent a crime, as well- in reported cases, simply brandishing the weapon is sufficient to deter whatever would-be criminal from continuing their pursuits. Also, violent crime statistics obviously assume there’s a crime- hence the difference between homicide statistics and murders/mansluahgters.

Couple of things from an independent perspective. When statistics on “violent crime” are tabulated, they do not take into account injuries or death caused by people defending themselves with firearms, or if those cases actually even held up as self defense and didn’t go down as manslaughter or attempted manslaughter.
But if I was getting mugged I’d want one.

Violent crimes on the rise nationally does not make a difference if areas where carrying concealed have seen the crime rates decrease regionally…
Also, keep in mind that there’s more gun-free zones than mere schools, bars, and government buildings. Hence there are more areas where a crime can be committed without opposition from law-abiding citizens that are armed (and trained) appropriately.

I am a liberal, but I am pro-gun and pro-CCW…
It is the government’s job to make our nation safer for everyone as a whole WITHOUT compromising our inalienable constitutional rights. However, they can’t be everywhere at once and not always when you need them to be. Hence people should have the right to defend themselves when law enforcement cannot.

I am not sure I would want to explain to a victims family that their death was just part of an experiment to see if criminals will lay down their weapons because concealed carry has been eliminated.
Its not the CCDW people we need to worry about, its the criminals who don’t give a damn about the law.

Alright, vilent crime is still on the increase nationally. I dont see that people legally carrying concealed weapons have made crime go down. I say ban all concealed weapons for a 2 year study, and see if violent crimes go down. I dont like walking down the street and not knowing who is armed and who is not.

How bout you stop and learn that guns are inanimate objects? criminals are still going to get guns no matter what laws are passed because they break laws anyway! the only gun control we should be pushing for are laws that focus on eliminating the source of illegal gun trade on the black market.

The difference between an armed, and unarmed victim is the chalkline around the latter’s body.
Statistically speaking, a legally armed victim is more likely to survive a deadly criminal attack, avoid rape etc… than an unarmed person, especially a passive one.

Everywhere that concealed carry laws were passed the violent crime rates have gone down. Why do you stupid ass liberals keep on making up shit that simply isn’t true. Concealed carry license holders are the lowest crime commiting group. They commit less crimes than cops, clergymen, everybody. Criminals are going to carry guns whether it’s legal or not so howcome you don’t want people to be able to defend themselves. Why don’t you go educate yourself you fucking moron.

It is a bad idea issuing concealed weapon licenses. Every since concealed weapon licenses have been issued, there has been more gun violence. What we need are politicians who stand for more gun control laws!!
