Owner’s Report of Glock 26 9mm – review of subcompact pistol
Posted on | February 4, 2010 | 25 Comments
Hope you enjoy this Owners Report of the Glock 26. Since this is a subcompact semi auto pistol, the frame is a bit small for my hands, so I added the aftermarket magazine extensions. They added two extra rounds, bringing the capacity to 12. With them it fits great, handles well and is ideal for concealed carry. To me the Glock 26 has a very good balance of size, weight, and magazine capacity. However, the same basic size gun can be had in other calbers – of course if you go larger it may not have as many rounds and the recoil will be greater since this is lighweight pistol. Check out Glock’s web site for a list of the calibers and model numbers. I think 9mm is ideal for this size & weight gun, but you may feel different – so shop around and see what works for you. Check out my other videos to see what shooting this gun is like!! Glocks have a fine reputation for being reliable, and long lasting firearms and the 26 is no exception. Introduced in August 1994, they are still popular today, and should remain a benchmark in years to come. I think you’ll enjoy owning one, so give it a try at a range near you!! I hope you enjoyed hearing my thoughts on this gun, they are based on owning and shooting it. Thanks again for watching!!

I shot 50 rounds in a 26 at a local firing range. I love it!

@nsw1535 Perhaps I’m not understanding your question..This pistol doesn’t have an external hammer,
Once the slide is pulled back and released it’s ready to fire. Pulling the trigger when it’s empty is required to disassemble it.

Oh, I thought when the hammer was supposed to be cocked, so it was down, so it’s out of the way, I could be wrong, your the one with the gun, so I wouldn’t know, cool video though.

@nsw1535
I probably should have taken the mag out.
Cocked? You first pull the trigger before taking off the slide. So it won’t be cocked.

Maybe it the take down wasn’t as smoothe because the mag was in it, and I thought it needed to be cocked, or doesn’t it matter?

I carry a 17 on duty(i’m a cop) as my primary, and carry the 26 as a back up. Both have the trijicon sights, so I’m a fan of them, and the 26 is accurate up to at least 100 yds easy, if you can shoot.

@jcwell23
why: close quarter combat 2-6 yards, point & shoot range. Certainly don’t need night sights.

What brand of mag extension are these?
February 4th, 2010 @ 9:48 am
@jcwell23 So far the standard sights are fine. Never tried them, so maybe I’ll look into them. I can always change them later.
February 4th, 2010 @ 9:59 am
why didnt you get the trijicon sights?
February 4th, 2010 @ 10:15 am
@DetectivePayne
do the G19

the FNP 9 is a great gun.

good comment. this is exactly why .40cal is my alltime favorite round
February 4th, 2010 @ 11:01 am
Good choice. a Glock 19 is good, 15 rounds of 9mm and its a compact. if you want a little more knockdown power get Glock 23 .40cal(compact) or glock 27 .40cal(subcompact). or u could go glock 30 . 45(sub compact)

The times I shot a Glock 26, it had a little bit of snap to it on recoil,, then a Glock 21SF I was shooting with it the same day. Which to me was surprising because the 21sf was a 45acp but then again, the 21 is a full size against the 26 being a sub compact.

If you can conceal a G19 on your person with your usual clothing, w/ a IWB holster, I’d go for it over a sub compact. Having the additional rounds available will likely be more beneficial than having a slightly more powerful round. Normally the G19 works fine for me, the G22 during winter (bulkier clothing) or hiking. The G26 would be ideal for those times I need to be sure the grip doesnt print or bump into something/someone. .40S&W costs significantly more than 9mm, $13 vs. $20.

7:10 you didnt seat the spring all the way down onto the half moon of the barrel thats why you had trouble putting the slide on

Go for the Glock 27. Same size as the 26 but chambered in .40S&W (accurate as a 9mm but with the same stopping power as a .45). One less round in the factory magazine, though (9rds for the 27, 10 for the 26). Also .40 is usually just as cheap as 9mm.

It’s not terrible, but it is a small light pistol so you feel it more to me. Might be a bit of an adustment to someone used to a larger & heavier 9mm.

do the glock 26 have strong recoil..
