This is an overview of some of the leather level 1 retention holsters that I own and use. All of these holsters are manufactured by Galco. Their website is www.usgalco.com

I would use a Level 1 Holster on duty for administrative or investigative work. I would not use one for uniformed patrol duty. I use Level 1 holsters off duty because they are concealed most of the time. I don’t have any holsters with decoy straps, so I don’t know how effective they are, but I can tell you that they are considered passive retention.

what type of occasions/jobs are there when its okay to carry level 1 duty holster? also, are decoy straps effective?

I don’t want to say too much, so I will keep it simple and just say that I work for a local agency.

thanks for your video on these galco products. i have a sig sauer P226 .40 cal. you turned me onto these galco products, so i ordered a few and i must say i absolutely love the quality and look. I carry my gun with me everyday and the galco products make it very comfortable. i have the small of the back, OWB leather holster, and paddle for quick on/off. so thanks.

I don’t own one, but its about the same size as my Sig P239. I use both, depending on the situation. Small of the back holsters can be a little less comfortable and less accessable in seated positions. Strong side holsters can sometimes be less concealable. It alldepends on your body shape, method of dress and comfort levels.
