The only reason that Israel lets students and people carry weapons is that they have neighboring countries that hate them and want to destroy the country with suicide bombings, firing rockets, and all the other stuff that they do to harm. It is a completely different situation. We don’t have a neighboring country that hate us and attack us like they do in Israel so I don’t know why people use that as an example to carry weapons.

I’m all for keeping guns out of school if……….when there is a madman shooting people police actually go in and save people. what good is body armor and m16 and a squad if you stand out side til the gunmen decide to take their own lives.

Kids, kids, kids, this dumb reporter doesn’t realized that our GI’s are also kids who handles from figther jets to weapons of mass distruction and they are responsible and controlled. Only a few of them have commited crimes-most of them are good responsible GI’s.

When all is said and done, liberals are control freaks. They think banning guns will make people safe but the reality is people will bring guns be it legal or not. That is what happened at all school shooting. It is the bad person who brought guns to shoot people.

Making themselve to be wise, they became fools.

    Gun free zones
providing hapless targets for the criminal & insane minded.
They thank you for your cooperation!

    Gun free zones-
Providing hapless targets since its inception.
You will never get the criminal and nut jobs to follow your ‘permit’ rules. So for self defense purposes it is logical to be able to fight back!

” I just want the opportunity to protect myself. ”

I too hold a CCDW and I have often considered that by carrying I am not making everyone else safer, only myself. The way the laws are in regrads to going to the defense of others the law is not so clear and the holder of a CCDW must carefully considering what he is doing.

Indeed, it is not just a constitutional right but a God given one.

also, people talk about the police messing up, and rarely hitting their targets. The majority of police officers on the street only fire their guns once or twice a year to qualify so they can still carry their weapons. Every citizen I know that carries a handgun shoots at least one weekend a month… so that’s 52x more than most police officers…

Yeah, the anti-gun people say “kids shouldn’t have guns on campus”…

You have to be 21 to buy a handgun and have a concealed carry permit in VA. Last time I checked 21-year olds are full-blown adults.

I did say, “u gotta be kidding me!” I was oncampus 9/11/01 when a group of white students beat up a kid cus he had a turbin on, when a friend of mine was thrown from Apt 6 3rd floor balcony by frat bros., when after midnight madness in ‘03 a gang fight broke out at lot K. Now if the ban was lifted and the victims had been armed then we’d have a real problem. GMU has enough social political problem, no guns needed, not yet anyway. And besides that guys a former marine, ofcourse he wants a gun.

“Gun Free Zones” are only safe for criminals who want to kill people. The rest of us in it are sitting ducks.

He has an awesome point. Having a rule that says “No Guns” assumes that people will follow the rule. Law abiding students with good intentions, will! Someone who is coming onto campus to cause harm has no regard for the rules. See the problem?

Self protection? What’s that? Am I allowed to do that?

I am a concealed carry permit holder living in another state. I do not think I am a policeman, and I do not want to be a hero. I just want the opportunity to protect myself. This is a natural right that even usurps the Constitution/2nd Amendment — which does guarantee an individual’s right to bear arms.

The underlying facts are that 1) laws only affect those who choose to abide by the law 2) and a law will not prevent these kinds of killings 3) and this could be the greatest deterrent to this kind of crime. Laws do nothing but keep honest men honest. Good luck Andrew, I hope you can succeed with this intiative.

Mentioned was “collateral damage”. If a Legal Citizen had stopped the VT Tech shootings and had shot one or two innocent individuals, yet prevented 25-30 innocents being killed, would it have been worth it?

Granted, not for the one or two innocents, but they would most likely have been killed any way.

So, many by some idiot, or a few by someone protecting others. Which would you choose?

    he missed the primary points:
    - a student or anyone who wants to shoot up a campus will not be deterred by the no gun policy. In fact knwing that noone else on campus has a gun to stop him makes it an appealing target.
-also the cops? now we what cower and die while we wait?
